Ben
C. Strickland - President
Ben Strickland began his career in the funeral industry in 1959. While
still a student in high school, he began working part-time with Seymour
Funeral Home. After graduating from Oak Ridge Military Institute in
1962, Ben attended Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, graduating
from there in 1963. He then came back to work with Seymour Funeral Home,
where he is currently President and part owner of Seymour, Rouse and
Tyndall Funeral Homes.
Ben is married to the former Diane Butts
and they have four children, Pam Strickland Jessup and husband, Dave,
Stacie Strickland, Ben Jr., and Cameron Strickland.
Ben has always been active within the
community, serving as Mayor of Goldsboro from 1973 - 1979. He is a member
of St. Paul United Methodist Church, the Goldsboro Kiwanis Club, Goldsboro
Masonic Lodge #634, Wayne Shrine Club, Lane Tree Golf Club, Goldsboro
Country Club, North Carolina Funeral Directors Association, National
Funeral Directors Association, and the Family Y.
Lynn
Taylor - Vice President
Lynn Taylor began his career at the age of 16 in the funeral industry.
He is the son of the late Gary Taylor who was part owner of Seymour
Funeral Home. Upon the death of his father in June of 1994, Lynn became
a partner and Vice President of Seymour Funeral Home, Inc. He was a
1983 graduate of Southern Wayne High School and a 1987 graduate of Mount
Olive College with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration. Lynn was
also a 1988 graduate of Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service. He
is currently a funeral service licensee with Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange.
Lynn is married to the former Tammy Holmes
and they have two children, Lynsey Morgan and Lowell Jared. Lynn, Tammy,
Lynsey and Jared reside in LaGrange.
Lynn is a member of First Missionary Baptist
Church of LaGrange. He is a member and past President of the LaGrange
Rotary Club and a member and past President of The LaGrange Chamber of
Commerce. Lynn served six years as District
Director of the North Carolina Funeral Director's Association. His hobbies
include reading, golfing and sports.
Brian
Taylor - Secretary/Treasurer
Brian Taylor began his career with Seymour Funeral Home at the age of
16. Brian's father, the late Gary Taylor was part owner of Seymour Funeral
Home. Brian graduated from Mount Olive College in Mount Olive, NC with
a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and later completed his
Funeral
Service Degree at Fayetteville Technical Community College in Fayetteville,
NC, graduating there in September, 1991. Upon the death of his father
in June of 1994, Brian became a partner and Secretary/Treasurer of Seymour
Funeral Home.
Brian is married to the former Renee Hollowell
and they have a daughter, Reagan and a son, Ethan.
He is a volunteer and board member with
United Way of Wayne County and is a member and past president of the
Goldsboro Rotary Club. Brian is also a member of the First Pentecostal
Holiness Church in Goldsboro.
Judy
Stevens
Judy Stevens is a graduate of
Charles B. Aycock High School, Wayne Community College with an Associates
Degree in Accounting and Fayetteville Technical Community College with
a Certificate in Funeral Directing. She began her career with Seymour
Funeral Home in 1984, first serving as administrative assistant and
presently as Preneed Consultant. Judy is the daughter of Sandy and Hazel
Bizzell. She is married to Richard Stevens and they have two sons,
Kevin Stevens and his wife, Jennifer and Michael Stevens. She is a member and past district director of The North
Carolina Funeral Director’s Association. She is also a member and past
president of the American Business Women’s Association. Judy and her
family are members of the Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church,
where she serves as a Sunday school teacher and serves as church clerk.
Judy guides our families in completing their funeral arrangements before
the need arises.
Jerry
Goodman
Jerry Goodman was born and reared in Pikeville and is the son of
the late Myrtle Goodman Raynor and Lloyd Goodman. A graduate of Charles
B. Aycock High School in 1968, he received an associate degree in Accounting
from Wayne Community College in 1970 and an associate degree in Mortuary
Science from Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in 1972. He joined
the staff of Seymour Funeral Home in 1974. He is married to the former
Judy Gardner and they have a daughter, Ginger Waller and her husband,
Keith. Jerry is a member and
past president of the Goldsboro Downtown Lions Club and member and past
Exalted Ruler of Goldsboro Elks Lodge #139 B.P.O.E. Jerry and his family
attend Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
Harold
Hill
Harold Hill is a native of Goldsboro and is a graduate of Barton
College and Fayetteville Technical Community College. He has been
licensed in funeral service since January, 1998 and has been with
Seymour Funeral Home since January, 1996. He is a member of Goldsboro
Friends Meeting and the Goldsboro Host Lions Club, where he is serving
as their president. Harold is married to the former Becky Smith Warren
and they have a daughter Jennifer Warren.
Bruce
Tart
Bruce Tart has been with Seymour Funeral Home since 1997. He has
guided many families in making funeral arrangements for their loved
ones and has developed many friends as a Seymour staff member. Bruce
and his wife, Dianne are the proud parents of a son, Bryson and a daughter,
Regan. He is a member of Princeton Baptist Church, where he
serves as a
deacon. Bruce is also a member of the Waynesborough Kiwanis Club,
serves as a volunteer with the United Way of Wayne County and is a past
board member of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Board of Regents.
Bruce also serves as a board member for Wayne Christian School.
